Student profile: Wheeler

By Marlena Hartz: CNJ staff writer

Cade Wheeler is a senior at Clovis High School. He is the son of Mike and Paige Wheeler. He was selected as the CHS Teen of the Week for March 19-23.

Who is your hero and why? My dad. He has been a great role model for me in every aspect of life. He has taught me everything, from throwing a ball to the attributes of being a good, honest man. My dad was a great athlete. He is tough, he is very smart, a great businessman and a good Christian.

What do you want to be written on your gravestone? “Cowards die many times before their deaths. The valiant taste death but once.”

What’s so great about your favorite sport? Football is a great game. I love the action and the camaraderie. I like how one’s ego will fade away when they get laid out. When people lose their egos is when they perform to their best. It is a game, I think, that prepares you for life.

What are some of your favorite sayings?
—“Speak softly and carry a big stick.”
—“Fear nothing but the Lord.”
— “Pride cometh before a fall.”

What’s your greatest fear? Failure.
