Reporter’s Notebook: Two host families sought

By Kevin Wilson: CNJ staff writer

The Educational Resource Development Trust is looking for two volunteer host families.

This is a non-profit educational foundation that finds host families for exchange students to come to the United States for one year of high school. There are two students who need to be placed by Monday. Both students, one boy and one girl are from Germany.

Laura Schnieder will be in 11th grade. Her favorite subjects are Art and chemistry. She likes drawing, photography, playing soccer and gymnastics.

Dave Jacobi will also be in 11th grade. His favorite subjects are math, Spanish and English. Interests are photography, playing the guitar, writing stories, and computer programming. He likes to bicycle, bowl and play volleyball, basketball and tennis.

Host families are required to provide a bed, meals while in the home and include the students as part of the family. All students are covered by insurance, speak English, and have spending money for personal items. Students will arrive in August for the 2007-2008 school year.

Host families who are interested in hosting for the 2007-08 school year can contact Bruce Adams at 690-5904 or call ERDT at 1-800-941-3738.
