HOBBS — The Clovis High girls ran away from the field Tuesday night in the Hobbs qualifier track meet, scoring 157 points to 73 for runnerup Carlsbad.
Clovis’ boys finished second, scoring 87 points to trail Carlsbad with 119 1/2. Hobbs was third with 82 points.
Michael Cohen threw a season-best 54 feet, 9 inches to win shot put competition for the Wildcats, while Taylor Muse finished third and posted a state-qualifying throw of 50-4.
CHS boys coach Darren Kelley said junior Manuel Robles was held out of the jumping events dure to high winds. Robles did win the 100, though, and placed second in the 200.
Senior Brian Mead won the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.6 seconds.
