ALBUQUERQUE — The Portales High girls tennis team edged St. Michael’s 5-4 in the state team Class 1A-3A semifinals on Saturday before losing in the title match to Bosque 9-0.

“I thought we were a little intimidated going into Bosque; I thought we could have done better,” Lady Rams coach Michelle Wallis said. “(But) I need to give credit to Bosque because they were a very good team — I mean a great team, and they deserved the title.”

The Portales boys, who beat Sandia Prep on Friday in the quarterfinal round, were ousted on Saturday in a 9-0 loss to top-seeded Las Vegas Robertson.
