Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:
Around 4:30 p.m. Monday an officer responded to the area of 20th and Thornton streets for a report of aggravated assault. A man told the officer a female he knows had tried to run him over with her car while he was riding his bicycle near the intersection of 21st and Prince streets. The man said the woman had driven within two inches of his rear tire and it was the second time she had done it. Two weeks before, he said she tried to run him off the road. The case is under investigation.

About 5:30 p.m. Tuesday an officer responded to the 400 block of Plaza Drive for a criminal damage report. A woman reported three girls had thrown rocks through the window of a neighbor’s house. The officer found the girls who initially said a boy had done it, but then admitted one of them had broken the window and they had thrown rocks, too. The case will be referred to the juvenile probation office.

Around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday an officer was advised a glass water pipe commonly used for smoking marijuana had been found in the back of his patrol car by a mechanic servicing it. The officer said he had found the pipe in the trunk of the car a few days earlier and had secured it for disposal. The officer said he did not recognize the pipe as being connected to any cases he was investigating. The item was logged into evidence and a request was made for its destruction.

About 7 p.m. Wednesday an officer responded to a department store at the mall for a shoplifting report. The manager said two females and a male had stolen about $5,000 worth of clothing around 2 p.m. that day. She said one of the women distracted the clerk while the other two stuffed clothes into bags, and then they ran from the store and drove away. The officer took descriptions of the individuals and their vehicle. The manager said she would provide video footage. The case is under investigation.
