Eastern New Mexico University senior right fielder Kelsey Kubik has been chosen to the second-team All-District VI squad by ESPN The Magazine for her efforts in softball and in the classroom.

Kubik, a health and physical education major from Tucson, Ariz., batted .325 with three home runs and 31 RBIs in 2007 and is the 11th Zias player chosen to the squad in nine years. She hit .439 in 2006 after transferring from Pima (Ariz.) Community College, and her two-year average of .382 ranks fourth in the program’s history.

To be eligible, players had to be a starter or key reserve for their teams and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale. District VI includes colleges and universities in Arkansas, Louisiana, Missisippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
