Two Clovis men suffered non-fatal stabbings Sunday in separate incidents, police said.

Police discovered a 43-year-old man just before 4 a.m. Sunday with four stab wounds to his torso in the yard of 916 W. 10th Street, Clovis Police Lt. James Schoeffel said.

Police were responding to a report of shots fired.

The stabbing victim was transported to the hospital and his injuries are not considered life-threatening, Schoeffel said.

According to witness accounts, the stabbing occurred during a birthday party being held for a 17-year-old girl at the home of the victim.

In an earlier unrelated incident, a man was slashed in the face, allegedly by a former girlfriend.

Around 1 a.m. Sunday a 28-year-old man was transported to the hospital for a knife wound to the face. The man had approximately a 4-inch-long, quarter-inch-deep slash across his cheek, Schoeffel said.

Schoeffel said the man told officers he was at the Prince Street Lounge with his girlfriend when his former girlfriend approached him and said she was going to kill him. The victim told police she scratched him, then cut him and disappeared into the crowd.

The case is being investigated, Schoeffel said.
