A 27-year-old Clovis woman was arrested Wednesday morning for slashing her former boyfriend’s face with a knife last week at a local bar, according to police.

Jesusita Chairez was charged with aggravated battery against a household member, Clovis Police Capt. Patrick Whitney said.

Chairez is being held at the Curry County Adult Detention Center on a $10,000 bond, jail officials said.

According to police reports, the 28-year-old man told police he was at the Prince Street Lounge on June 17 with his new girlfriend when Chairez walked up to him, told him she was going to kill him. She scratched him and cut him before disappearing into the crowd, the report said.

The slash wound was approximately 4 inches in length and a quarter inch deep, the report said.

Farwell cable service out overnight
Between 200 to 250 Farwell customers lost cable service between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, according to Tim Archer, Sudden Link system director for the Amarillo-Clovis area.

“We’ve been aware at 7:30 this morning,” Archer said.

Archer said four power poles were broken, possibly because of the storm that hit the area.

Workers from Xcel Energy repaired three of the poles and service was expected to be returned by midnight Wednesday, Archer said.
