A CLOVIS RESIDENT will represent New Mexico at a national beauty pageant in September.

THE MRS. GLOBE board of directors selected Erin Bailey as the 2007 Mrs. New Mexico – Globe from thousands of applicants, according to operations and marketing vice president Monica Ulrich.

“There’s certain criteria she has to hit, and there wasn’t an actual state pageant held,” she said.

BAILEY WILL REPRESENT New Mexico Sept. 1 at the national pageant in Palm Springs, Calif. Ten days prior to the event, Ulrich said, contestants will spend time visiting local businesses and attending evening theme parties hosted by the organization’s sponsors.

“It’s just 10 days of fun-filled (activities) and then it commences with the final event,” she said.

If she wins Bailey will represent the United States at the 2008 Mrs. Globe international competition.

The organization started in 1996 and has delegates from 40 countries.

Bailey is the state representative for the Women in Need Foundation, a charity of the Mrs. Globe organization.
