Arrest made in homicide

Clovis police on Sunday morning arrested a man wanted in connection with Thursday’s homicide.

Albert Ramirez, 18, was arrested without incident at 714 W. 13th Street, Apartment A, police said, about 8:30 a.m. He’s accused of shooting Eladio Robledo, 39, who died on Thursday afternoon.

Police believe Ramirez shot Robledo, the boyfriend of Ramirez’s mother, in the front yard at 512 W. Sixth. Witnesses said they saw Ramirez flee the scene after hearing shots fired.

A murder warrant was issued for Ramirez almost immediately after the shooting, but he could not be located until Sunday.

A concerned citizen provided information on Sunday morning that led to Ramirez’s arrest, according to a police press release.

Ramirez is being held in the Curry County Adult Detention Center.

The homicide was the second in Clovis this year.

Incident Type: **UPDATE** – Homicide Suspect Albert Ramirez Arrested Without Incident By Clovis Police Department Day Shift Patrol Officers In Clovis This Morning For The Eladio Robledo Murder Based Upon A Citizen Tip

This Sunday morning, July 15, 2007 at approximately 8:30 AM Clovis Police Department Day Shift Patrol Officers arrested 18 year old Albert Ramirez of Clovis at 714 West 13th Street, Apartment # A in Clovis without incident on an open count of Murder Warrant in connection with the Thursday afternoon shooting death of Eladio Robledo in the 500 block of West 6th Street in Clovis.

A concerned citizen that had information about where Albert Ramirez may be hiding out flagged Clovis Police Day Shift Patrol Officer Dale Rice down this morning on West 4th Street. A phone number given by the informant was cross-referenced to an address returning to 714 West 13th Street in Clovis.

Other Clovis Police Officers and a Supervisor responded to a set of apartments at 714 West 13th Street where they began making contact with occupants of the different apartments. Sgt. Robbie Telles made contact with a subject in Apartment #A and asked if he knew Albert Ramirez and the man said yes. When asked if Ramirez was there the man said yes and motioned to another room in the apartment.

Officers entered the apartment and approached the room where they found Albert Ramirez and took him into custody without incident.
Albert Ramirez was subsequently transported to the Curry County Adult Detention Center for booking on the open count of Murder charge. The man in whom which apartment Albert Ramirez was found is being questioned at this time.       

The investigation into the homicide of Eladio Robledo is still ongoing at this time by Clovis Police Department Detectives and the Major Crimes Unit, also consisting of the Curry County Sheriff Office and 9th Judicial District Attorney Office. 
 
There will be no further information released on this case until Monday.
