LAKEWOOD, Colo. — The Eastern New Mexico University women’s soccer team scored three times in the first 21 minutes and cruised to a 3-1 win over Colorado Christian on Friday.

Sophomore forward Samantha Lawrence had two of the goals for the Zias (5-2), who tied the school record with their fifth consecutive victory. ENMU won five in a row late in the 2005 season.

Lawrence put the Zias ahead for good less than 4 1/2 minutes in. She then made it 3-0 by taking a centering pass from junior midfielder Hillary Gintowt and slipping a shot past Cougars goalkeeper Allison Cox with 20:58 elapsed.

Senior forward Amy Wilcox scored in between off a free kick, with sophomore midfielder Kimberley Anaya credited with an assist on the play.

The Cougars (1-4) managed five shots on goal, including only one the first half. Colorado Christian’s lone tally came with about 30 minutes left when Jessica Smith scored on a tap-in off a corner kick by teammate Cassidy Fightmaster.

The Zias will try to extend their winning streak next Friday when they play Wayland Baptist in a 3 p.m. (MDT) matchup at Plainview, Texas.
