Clovis defeats Rio Rancho 38-8

The Clovis Wildcats moved to 3-2 on the season with a 38-8 rout of host Rio Rancho.

Clovis scored the last 17 points of the game after Rio Rancho (3-2) got on the scoreboard early in the third. The Wildcats scored 10 in the third on a 24-yard field goal by Robert North and a 68-yard run by Manuel Robles, his third score of the game.

Scott McMath capped the Clovis scoring with a 13-yard run midway through the fourth.

The Rams got on the scoreboard with a 35-yard pass from Tyler Baker to Chris Newsome.

The Wildcats (2-2) struck late in the second quarter to take a 21-0 halftime lead. George Mendoza found Chase Willis for a 15-yard scoring pass with 33 seconds left in the half.

Robles scored both Clovis touchdowns in the first quarter on runs of 28 and 14 yards.
