Business Digest: Chamber, tourist officials to visit from Lubbock

The Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce will host 22 Lubbock city, chamber and tourism officials Wednesday.

According to Chamber spokesperson Liz Eisenbraun, the visitors are comprised of representatives from the city of Lubbock, the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce and the Conventions and Visitors Bureau.

Eisenbraun said the purpose of the visit is to share tourism ideas related to both cities’ musical heritage.

The group plans to tour Norman Petty Studios, attend a board of directors meeting, and visit the Norman and Vi Petty Rock ‘n’ Roll Museum, slated to open in September 2008.

“We want them (the Lubbock officials) to see our vision (at the new museum),” Eisenbraun said, “and talk about exchanging exhibits in the future.”

Insurance company celebrates 70th anniversary
Mountain States Insurance Group is celebrating 70 years in business.

The business was begun by former U.S. Sen. Clinton P. Anderson in 1937.

The company has agents operating in New Mexico, Colorado and Texas — including an independent agent in Clovis, according to President Jerry With.

“Clovis Insurance Center in Clovis is proud to be associated with a 70-year-old company that has given so much to local businesses,” Clovis Insurance Center President Stacey Martin said.
