LAWTON, Okla. — Junior forward Kendall Clark’s buzzer-beating layup forced overtime, then Eastern New Mexico University scored the first eight points of the extra session and held on for a 76-74 Lone Star Conference men’s crossover victory over Cameron on Saturday.

Clark went 10-for-16 from the field and finished with 20 points for the Greyhounds (6-9) while senior guard Justin Redman-Trotter tallied 17 points, including two free throws with 13 seconds left in overtime to give the Greyhounds a four-point lead.

Chad Johnson added 13 points, Jamaal McCoy 12 and Marquis Ruffin 10 for ENMU, which stormed to a 14-2 lead in the first 3 1/2 minutes and led all the way until Greg Morgan’s jumper with four seconds left in regulation capped a 6-0 run in the final minute which pushed the Aggies (2-12) in front 61-59.

Clark had a layup and a dunk in the early run in the overtime, but the Aggies countered with six consecutive points to pull to 69-67.

Morgan scored to pull Cameron to 76-74 with seven seconds left, then stole the ball from Ruffin to give the Aggies a final chance. But Dave Smith’s 3-point shot for the win as time expired was off the mark.

Junior guard Roosevelt Lovett scored 21 points for Cameron, followed by Morgan with 18 and 6-foot-7 junior forward Leslie Malone with 15.

Redman-Trotter hit a pair of 3-pointers and two free throws to spark ENMU’s early run, and the Hounds led comfortably for most of the half.

A 3-pointer by senior guard Maurice Cubit pulled Cameron to 26-23 with four minutes left in the half, but the Aggies did not score in the remaining time. A basket by McCoy and five points from Johnson — a 3-pointer and two free throws — pushed the Hounds’ lead to 33-23 at the break.

The margin stayed between eight and 13 points through the first 13 minutes of the second half. A 3-pointer by Cubit cut the Aggies’ deficit to 55-49 with just over seven minutes left.

ENMU went more than seven minutes with only two points to allow Cameron to stay in contention, setting up its run for the lead in the final minute.
