ABILENE, Texas — Senior forward Ashlee Barr and sophomore forward Jody Meyer combined for 27 points and 17 rebounds off the bench Tuesday night and Abilene Christian rolled to a 91-61 Lone Star Conference South Division victory over Eastern New Mexico University.
Barr finished with 14 points and nine rebounds in 23 minutes while Meyer had 13 and eight in 27 minutes for the Wildcats (8-8, 2-1 South), who were coming off a two-point loss at Angelo State on Saturday in which they let a 13-point lead slip away in the final 11 minutes.
Junior center Audrey Maxwell added 12 points, junior forward Kristee Davidson scored 11 and sophomore point guard Kathryn Kundmueller added nine points and 11 of the Wildcats’ 26 assists.
The Zias (3-13, 0-3) were led in scoring for the fourth consecutive game by freshman forward Til-Lois Fifer with 15 points. She also collected a team-high five rebounds and went 7-for-7 from the free throw line, making her 28-for-30 from the stripe in those four games.
Freshman center Kara Bible added 11 points off the bench for ENMU, but it was all Wildcats from the get-go.
Abilene Christian scored 10 seconds into the game, built its lead to double figures after five minutes and never saw it go under that.
The Wildcats led 36-13 with eight minutes left in the half and 50-29 at halftime. Their largest margin was 84-41 with under seven minutes to go.
Freshman guard Lacy Acker then hit a pair of 3-pointers to help the Zias go on a 17-3 run and get the margin under 30 points with less than two minutes left.
