USDA rural development to hold local workshop

USDA Rural Development to Host Workshops on the Section 9006 Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Program and the Value Added Producer Grant Program

Albuquerque, NM – Ryan Gleason, New Mexico USDA Rural Development State Director announced today that the Agency will host workshops across the state to inform prospective applicants on the USDA Rural Development Energy and Energy Efficiency Program and the Value Added Producer Grant Program (VAPG).

In making the announcement, Gleason said, “the Renewable Energy Systems and Energy Efficiency Improvements Program was created as part of the 2002 Farm Bill to assist farmers, ranchers and rural small businesses develop renewable energy systems and make energy efficiency improvements to their operations.” Gleason added, “The VAPG is another great program that allows us to assist farmers and agricultural producers develop ways to increase the value of their products so that they are getting more of the consumers’ dollars.”

“These programs are a vital tool to help support rural ag producers as they create new markets for agricultural products and assist rural businesses, farmers and ranchers in our country in becoming more energy independent. We believe that the State of New Mexico has an untapped source of projects that can be successful under these programs,” said Gleason.

Gleason further added, “Come join us at any one of the scheduled workshops listed below and learn more about these programs and how they can benefit your operation.”
