Most small municipalities in the region had uncontested elections Tuesday with mild voter turnout by comparison to Clovis numbers.

In Melrose, Hulin P. Cargile, Tuck N. Monk and Darrel L. Bostwick took council seats in heated races that included two write-in candidates.

In Portales, incumbents Gary Watkins and Michael Miller took the two contested council seats up while two other spots went uncontested.

In Dora and Floyd, village council seats that lacked candidates will be filled by appointment from the mayors and village councils.

In the Texas primaries, Hillary Clinton was the Democratic winner in Parmer County while John McCain earned the Republican nod.
