PORTALES — Angelo State’s Kari Galm scattered eight hits and shortstop Macy Baker homered, leading the Rambelles to a 4-1 Lone Star Conference South Division victory over Eastern New Mexico University at Zia Softball Field.

Galm (10-1) lost her bid for a shutout in the bottom of the sixth when ENMU’s Haley Hays singled, reached third on Alex Mayo Otis’ infield hit and an error and scored while Mayo Otis was thrown out trying to steal second.

Galm walked one and struck out three and was supported by a pair of double plays from her defense.

The Rambelles (17-4, 3-1 South) got an infield RBI single from Brittney Cargill in the first, made it 2-0 on Brittany Welch’s run-scoring single in the fourth and picked up a third run on two-out doubles by Galm and Welch in the sixth. Macy added a two-out homer, her third, in the top of the seventh.

Junior left-hander Natalie Woodside (5-6) went the distance for the Zias (13-12, 0-4), allowing eight hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

The teams will finish the three-game series with an 11 a.m. doubleheader today.
