The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a high wind warning for southern New Mexico until 8 p.m. Friday.
Sustained winds of 30 to 50 mph are expected with possible gusts of 55 to 65 mph.
Strong winds will create areas of reduced visibility with blowing dust and dangerous crosswinds, which can affect travel, according to the NWS.
A high wind warning means hazardous weather conditions are imminent or highly likely.
A red flag warning for fire danger also is in effect until 8 p.m. Friday.
