Chandler running unopposed
Incumbent Matt Chandler is running unopposed for 9th Judicial District attorney in the 2008 general election.
Chandler, a Republican, has served as district attorney since 2005. He defeated Brett Carter is a spirited primary and ran unopposed in the general election.
Tuesday was the day for candidates to file for the election.
Man sought on battery charge
Police have obtained warrants for a 31-year-old suspect in a domestic violence incident Tuesday.
Paul Salazar is being sought on two counts aggravated battery on a household member, two counts aggravated assault on a household member and felon in possession of a firearm, according to Clovis police Capt. Patrick Whitney.
Police said Salazar struck a female in the face with a pistol during a domestic dispute around 1:30 p.m. at a residence in the 900 block of Connelly Street.
The female was transported to the hospital, where she received treatment for injuries to her face, Whitney said.
