SAN ANGELO, Texas — Shortstop Charley Belew went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer to lead a 10-hit attack as Angelo State defeated Eastern New Mexico 8-3 Saturday afternoon at Foster Field.
Belew hit a 1-2 pitch out with one gone in the second, giving the host Rams a lead they would not relinquish off Greyhound starter Thomas Green (2-3).
The Greyhounds (15-13, 9-11 Lone Star Conference South Division) rallied with three runs in the eighth off Bradley Durst (5-0), including a two-run shot for catcher Freddy Carmona.
Angelo State added four insurance runs in bottom of the inning — including a sacrifice fly by Durst, who switched to right field in the eighth — Joe Key pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief to hand ENMU its sixth straight defeat.
Green allowed seven runs, four earned, on eight hits with eight strikeouts for the Greyhounds.
ENMU returns to action Tuesday in a 2 p.m. game at New Mexico Highlands.
