PORTALES — The Eastern New Mexico University men’s rodeo team finished its regular season with four members qualifying for the College National Finals Rodeo, scheduled for June 15-21 in Casper, Wyo.
Senior Jared Green placed fourth in bareback riding with a total score of 150 at last weekend’s Tarleton State Rodeo in Stephenville, Texas.
He is ranked second in the region in bareback and bronc riding. This will be his first trip to the CNFR.
“I am really excited to be heading to the finals,” Green said. “This is my last year to be able to compete in the finals. I missed competing in the finals as a freshman by a few points. The last two years I went through two shoulder surgeries that kept me out of the competition.”
Senior Cody Heck ranks third in the region in steer wrestling, while team ropers Kyle Roberts and Tyrell Flewelling qualified for the nationals in that event.
