Man arrested after firing gun
An 18-year-old Clovis man is in jail after police said he fired a handgun early Tuesday morning and nearly hit three officers.
Michael Trevino was arrested after officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 3000 block of Sheldon Street around 2 a.m. Tuesday heard bullets “whizzing over their heads,” a police report said.
Officers found bullet casings in the yard, inside the back door and a hand gun in the residence where the suspect was located, the report said. There were three other occupants in the residence, the report said.
Trevino is charged with three counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer, negligent use of a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a handgun and minor in possession of alcohol, court records show.
He is being held on $17,000 bond and is also charged with a probation violation, jail officials said.
Police: Boy, 14, tries to stab sister
A 14-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday after he attempted to stab his older sister, according to police reports.
Around 8:30 p.m., police were called to an undisclosed residence for a report of a suicidal subject who had tried to stab someone.
The boy’s 19-year-old sister said they got into an argument and he grabbed a knife and threatened to kill himself. She said when she told him to stop, he came at her and got on top of her, pointing the knife at her chest and cursing at her, the report said.
Officers found knife on the floor and located the boy sitting on the couch, crying.
He was arrested for aggravated assault on a household member and kidnapping, the report said.
He was taken to the juvenile detention center, the report said.
Landlord treated after incident
A 47-year-old landlord was stabbed Tuesday night while trying to intervene in a dispute at one of his rental properties, according to police reports.
Around 10 p.m., police received a report of a stabbing at a residence in the 1100 block of Connelly Street.
The tenant said two men confronted him at his residence, accusing him having relations with the wife of one of the men. The tenant said after he was punched in the face, his landlord came to his aid, the report said.
The tenant said one of the suspects began “punching at” his landlord. The tenant said he saw cuts on the landlord’s head and side, the report said.
Other witnesses gave similar accounts of the incident.
The landlord was treated for lacerations at the hospital, according to the report.
