What is the most important job of the county treasurer?
To collect taxes and keep accurate account of these and all other monies received and disbursed for the county. Also overseeing the investment of these monies and to prepare a monthly financial statement of their account.

What background or experiences qualify you for this position?
I have nine years banking experience and over 18 years of working at Curry County. More than 13 years at the county were in the administration office working in finance, budget, payroll and accounts payable. I have worked in the treasurer’s office for almost five years learning all the jobs in there. I am currently in charge of running the treasurer’s office.

What is working at the treasurer’s office?
The office staff is very well trained and efficient. They work well together and are courteous, reliable and always ready to help the public and other offices in the courthouse.

What is not working at the treasurer’s office?
As in every business, there is always something that can use improvement. If a problem area appears, we take immediate measures to correct it. We are always open to and will take into consideration any suggestions we receive.

What will you do to assure all county funds are accounted for?
Through double checks, dual controls, and good accounting policies I will do all that is humanly possible to assure that the funds I am entrusted with are kept safe and handled efficiently.
