Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

Around 1 a.m. June 1 an officer responded to an undisclosed residence for a report of child neglect.

An 8-year-old male called 911 and said he was home alone and scared.

The child allowed the officer to look through the residence.

A sleeping man was found in a bedroom. He was intoxicated. The officer had the man contact the child’s mother.

The officer noted when the child’s mother got out of her vehicle she smelled of alcohol and her speech was slurred.

She was arrested for DWI and the officer noted intent to refer the case to social services.

About 9:30 a.m. June 2 an officer responded to a vehicle accident in the 900 block of South Prince Street.

Emergency responders told the officer they found a vehicle against a fence with the engine running. They said the female driver was huffing dust remover spray. They took the can away from her and turned off the engine.

The woman was arrested at the request of her probation officer.

Around 10:30 a.m. June 3 an officer responded to an office in reference to a criminal damage report.

A woman said sometime the night before someone had egged and poured chocolate syrup on vehicles in her driveway at her residence in the 300 block of Rosewood.

The officer checked the vehicles, finding the syrup had eaten through the paint on one of them.

Damages were estimated around $500.

Around 1 p.m. June 3 an officer was called to a park in the area of Fourth and Edwards streets for an abandoned child.

Workers with a lunch program told the officers a 2-year-old boy appeared to be alone at the park.

The boy was unable to provide his name or address so officers began canvassing adjoining neighborhoods.

A woman arrived looking for her son. A daycare provider, she said she had several other children with her and when it was time to leave the park the other kids said her son had left with his aunt.

She said she ran a couple errands and then found out her son was not with his aunt, so she returned to the park.

The officer contacted social services and let them know about the incident.
