June 29, 2008 Police blotter

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

About 4 p.m. June 20 an officer responded to the area of Prince and Wilhite for a vehicle crash.

An SUV struck a motorcycle carrying three juveniles.

A 16-year-old motorcycle driver said he was westbound on Wilhite crossing Prince Street and crossed the intersection because he didn’t see the northbound SUV.

A witness said she saw the youth slow at the stop sign and then proceed through without coming to a full stop.

The 11- and 13-year-old passengers from the motorcycle were treated for scrapes and bruises. The motorcycle driver was issued a citation for failing to stop at a stop sign.

Around 6 p.m. June 20 officers responded to a report of narcotics at a hotel room in the 1000 block of Mabry Drive.

Officers found a male and female in the room who had outstanding warrants.

Officers also located a small amount of marijuana and methamphetamine in the room in addition to spoons, scales, baggies and a glass pipe.

The two were arrested on possession of narcotics, paraphernalia and outstanding warrants.

Around 3:30 p.m. June 21 an officer responded to residence in the 300 block of Lea Street for a breaking and entering.

A man said when he got home his former wife was in his house.

The man said she had busted through the back door and he wanted her to leave.

The officer transported the woman to a family member’s house.

Around 4:30 p.m. June 21 an officer responded to a home in the 900 block of Hondo for a domestic dispute.

A man with a large, heavily bleeding cut on his head told officers his wife pushed him down and hit him over the head with a vase.

He said they had been drinking, playing guitar and singing when his wife brought up an affair he had 30 years before. When he tried to leave the room, he said she attacked him and said she was going to kill him.

Officers noted a trail of blood through the house and a shattered flower vase on the floor.

The woman was arrested for aggravated battery on a household member.

About 2 p.m. June 21 an officer responded to a shoplifting report at a business in the 1000 block of Prince Street.

An employee said a customer reported seeing a man leave the store without paying for a basket full of meat.

When she made contact with the man in the parking lot, she said he denied taking anything and left.

The officer was unable to locate the suspect.
