  COUNTY...ROOSEVELT COUNTY AND SANDIA/MANZANO MOUNTAINS.

  COVERAGE OF STORMS TO INCREASE THIS AFTERNOON AND PERSIST INTO

 

 

  THE EVENING HOURS. THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL SHOULD OCCUR ALONG AND

 

 

  EAST OF THE CENTRAL MOUNTAINS...GENERALLY ALONG AND SOUTH OF THE

 

 

  INTERSTATE 40 CORRIDOR. RAIN RATES OF 1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR ARE

 

 

  POSSIBLE WITHIN STRONGER SLOW MOVING STORMS...WHICH COULD LEAD

 

 

  TO FLASH FLOODING. TOTAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF ONE INCH WILL BE

 

 

  COMMON ACROSS THE REGION...WITH LOCALLY HEAVIER AMOUNTS OF 2 TO

 

 

  3 INCHES POSSIBLE. MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINFALL AND EXTREME FIRE

 

 

  SCARRING MAY LEAD TO SERIOUS FLASH FLOODING AROUND THE TRIGO AS

 

 

  WELL AS THE OJO PEAK AND BIG SPRINGS WILDFIRE AREAS.

 

 

 

* EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINS WILL RESULT IN FLASH FLOODING

 

 

  OF ARROYOS...SMALL STREAMS AND DITCHES AS WELL AS LOW LYING AND

 

 

  POOR DRAINAGE AREAS. COMMUNITIES AND HOMES DOWNSTREAM FROM THE

 

 

  TRIGO...OJO PEAK AND BIG SPRINGS WILDFIRES WILL BE SUSCEPTIBLE

 

 

  TO FLASH FLOODING FROM HEAVY RAINFALL. THIS INCLUDES MANZANO...

 

 

  TORREON...TAJIQUE AND PORTIONS OF HIGHWAY 55.

 

 

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO

 

 

FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
