The Curry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the Thursday stabbing of a 25-year-old man.

Jonathan Barel was initially treated at Plains Regional Medical Center and later transferred to a Lubbock hospital with a 4-inch laceration to the left leg below the knee, Undersheriff Wesley Waller said Friday.

Waller said deputies were dispatched to PRMC around 9:30 p.m. when the victim reported the stabbing to medical personnel at the emergency room.

Barel told deputies he was stabbed around 8:15 p.m. at Sam’s Mobile Home Park on U.S. 60/84, Waller said.

Deputies are seeking charges against a 25-year-old male believed responsible for the assault, Waller said, explaining the incident was the result of an “ongoing dispute (Barel) had with the suspect.”
