In its eighth year, Clovis Community College’s Cultural Arts Series is bringing music from around the world to Clovis.
The series features Tony Award winning musical Broadway musicals, musicians from Ireland, Canada, Mexico and the Czech Republic, as well opera, fiddle and banjo music.
The series will kick off next month with Italian jazz singer Chiara Civello, who combines Brazilian music and contemporary pop with a Mediterranean twist.
The 12-concert series will run from September to May, offering about one concert a month.
“The school feels that it is important to bring cultural arts to this area. It enhances our life and who we are,” Cultural Arts Director Christy Mendoza said.
“It’s also an educational outreach. We feel we’re giving to our community that which some people can’t go get. We try to keep tickets prices low so everyone can enjoy it,” she said.
