LOS LUNAS — The Clovis High boys soccer team scrimmaged three opponents on Saturday, losing to Ruidoso 2-1, Los Lunas 2-1 and Belen 3-1.

Despite that, first-year coach Greg Trujillo said his squad showed some good signs.

“The games were good,” he said. “We outplayed the first two teams, but lost both in the last five minutes.

“All in all, we looked good. Our defense got exploited, and that’s what we need to work on now.”

The Cats, who open the regular season in a 4 p.m. home match on Saturday against Rio Rancho, got goals in the scrimmages from Nate Carter, Jesus Loya and Gerardo Jimenez.
