Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

Around 8 a.m. Aug. 21 an officer took a statement regarding disorderly conduct at a school in the 1400 block of Cameo Street.

A teacher said on Aug. 15 a student was being disruptive in class.

She said she told him to redo his work when he turned in an assignment because it was not correct.

The woman said the 14-year-old sat at his desk and put the paper in his backpack and started talking to classmates, The teacher told him she was going to give him a new assignment.

She said the boy called her an insulting name.

The officer referred the case to juvenile probation.


About 10 a.m. Aug. 21 an officer responded to a school in the 1400 block of Cameo Street for a warrant service.

The officer and principal went to the 14-year-old’s classroom and escorted him to the office, where he was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear.


About 10 p.m. an officer on patrol in the 2000 block of Grand Avenue observed young children cross the road.

The officer followed them to an apartment complex and saw the children, the youngest of which was a toddler, enter a doorway.

When the officer got out of his unit to find the parents, a male sitting on the porch got up and started running.

The officer chased the man to the park across the street. He found him hiding in a bathroom and took him into custody.

It was discovered he had an outstanding warrant out of Texas for aggravated battery.


About 9 p.m. Aug. 22 an officer responded to an apartment complex on Martin Luther King Boulevard to back up another officer.

When the officer arrived he saw the officer had pulled over a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle involved in an assault involving a firearm.

The vehicle took off and the officer began pursuit. The suspect drove north at speeds up to 75 mph and ran off the road and crashed in the 3000 block of Cesar Chavez Drive.

The officer found the suspect on the back porch of a residence, where he had injured himself by breaking the glass on the door.

He was arrested for resisting and evading an officer and on outstanding warrants for aggravated stalking and aggravated assault.
