BILLINGS, Mont. — Dixie State junior midfielder Mikala Wilkes scored two goals about five minutes apart midway through the first half and the Rebels went on to a 3-1 victory over Eastern New Mexico University in Montana State-Billing’s MSUB Cup women’s soccer event.

ENMU (0-2), which lost to Fort Lewis 1-0 on Thursday, will conclude its trip to Billings at today against the host school.

The Zias jumped in front when sophomore Christie Nylaan took a pass from freshman midfielder Kimberly Luna and punched the ball into the net midway through the first half. Less than two minutes later, though, the Rebels countered with Wilkes’ first goal. She made it 2-1 with just under 19 minutes left in the half by converting off a Dixie corner kick.

Sophomore Rebecca D’occhio added an unassisted goal on a rebound shot for the St. George, Utah-based Rebels with just over 10 minutes left.

Dixie held an 18-2 edge in shots on goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Sierra Cardenas made 13 saves in net for ENMU.
