Clovis native receives advocate award

Clovis native J. Roy Miller, State Director of the New Mexico Small Business Development Center network, has received an Entrepreneurial Advocate award for his support to women-owned and minority-owned businesses, and has been included as a “Power Broker” in the New Mexico Business Weekly’s annual Power Book edition to be published in September.

The Entrepreneurial Awards were instituted in 2000 as a joint effort of the Public Service Company of New Mexico and the Women’s Economic Self-Sufficiency Team (WESST Corps), is a nonprofit provider of assistance to New Mexico residents seeking to start or grow businesses.

Miller was nominated for “Power Broker” recognition by Randy Burge, Chairman of the Statewide NMSBDC Advisory Council and President of the New Mexico Information Technology and Software Association (NMITSA).

The New Mexico Small Business Development Center network (NMSBDC), funded by the State of New Mexico and the U. S. Small Business Administration, includes 19 service centers hosted by 17 institutions of higher education across the state, with additional branch and satellite offices.
