About 10 a.m. Sept. 5 an officer responded to a home in the 500 block of West Street for an extortion complaint.
A woman said she allowed her estranged husband to spend the night because she was afraid and couldn’t get him to leave.
She said she was taking a shower and he told her if she didn’t get out of the shower, he was going to destroy the house and slash her tires.
She said when she got out of the shower, he was standing with a hammer and knife in his hands and followed her to the bedroom, kicking the door in and threatening her.
The officer noted it was the third such call regarding threatening and harassing behavior from the man toward his wife.
The man was arrested for extortion, criminal damage and harassment.
About 6 p.m. on Sept. 5 an officer responded to the area of Mitchell and Second Streets for a suspicious situation.
Witnesses reported seeing a teenage male jump into the window of an abandoned building.
The officer located the male hiding near another building with a female.
The boy said he broke into the building because he didn’t want his older brother to think he was a “wuss.” Other officers caught the older brother in the area.
The older brother took responsibility and said he put his brother up to breaking into the building and the girl had nothing to do with it.
The younger teen and the girl were both issued trespassing citations and the older brother was cited for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The woman said the male had gone out the back door and when the officer checked the apartment he found a rear window open.
The male was later found hiding in an apartment a few blocks away where a resident said he came out of his bedroom and saw a stranger in the living room of his home.
The suspect was arrested.
