The Curry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of narcotics and contraband Monday night in the visitor’s bathroom at the adult detention center.

Undersheriff Wesley Waller said a detention center officer found a package containing tobacco, a small amount of marijuana, a vial containing an unidentified substance that was labeled “methotrexate” and a white “powdery” substance that has yet to be identified.

A detention officer called deputies after he noticed a visitor “in the lobby area who was acting nervous and made repeated trips to the restroom,” Waller said.

Waller said after the visitor left, the detention officer searched the bathroom and found the package.

Methotrexate is a drug used in treatment of some types of cancer.

Waller said that may not be what was actually in the vial and the contents of the vial will be identified through laboratory testing.
