A 43-year-old former Clovis resident was arrested Friday in Rockdale, Texas, on four counts of child solicitation.

Frank Sanchez’ arrest stems from an Internet investigation conducted by the Curry County Sheriff’s Department, according to Undersheriff Wesley Waller.

Sanchez, a registered sex offender, contacted a decoy Internet profile used by sheriff’s investigators and solicited sex from what he believed to be an underage girl, investigators said.

Waller said agents with the Texas Attorney General’s Office executed a search warrant Tuesday at Sanchez’ residence and found him logged into the profile he used to chat with the decoy and also discovered a “large amount” of child pornography in his residence.

Sanchez is being held on $35,000 bond in Texas, Waller said, and will face extradition to New Mexico.

Charges related to the discovery of child pornography are pending by Texas law enforcement.
