A 2-year-old Muleshoe girl was killed in a head-on collision Wednesday morning in Bailey County, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety official.
The accident occurred about 8:30 a.m. (CST) on Farm-to-Market Road 1760 south of Muleshoe, according to Lanny Hooper, supervisor of communications for the DPS in Lubbock.
• Mariksa Yadira Catano was a passenger in Dodge sedan driven by Norma Lee Venegas, 27, of Muleshoe. Catano died at the scene, according to Hooper. Venegas was transported to Covenant Hospital in Lubbock with head, neck and back injuries, according to Hooper.
Covenant officials declined to provide information on Venegas’ condition, citing privacy issues.
According to the incident report:
• Venegas was driving east on FM 1760.
• Elisha Don Seales, 77, of Muleshoe was westbound on FM 1760 in a GMC Sierra. The pickup crossed into the eastbound lane for about 60 feet while attempting to turn left into a private driveway when the vehicles collided.
