Kansas State University
More than 5,000 Kansas State University students have been awarded academic scholarships for the 2008-2009 school year. In all, students received nearly $14.8 million in scholarships.
Kansas State students receiving scholarships totaling more than $1,000 include:
Clovis: Cory Alexander Young, M.A. Durland Scholarship and Engineering Scholarship and Honors Scholarship
Portales: Caroline Anne Knudson, Denison Scholarship
Texico: Katie Bryn Mayfield, Engineering Scholarship and Honors Scholarship and Frank A. and Barbara L. Tillman Scholarship.
Wayland Baptist University
Residents of Clovis were among the winter graduating class at Wayland Baptist University, earning degrees in the Dec. 13 ceremony on the Plainview campus.
Mary Lou Estrada earned her Master of Education degree in education literacy.
Michelle Cathleen Blaschke, daughter of Terry and Cathy Blaschke, received her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies degree in elementary education, graduating summa cum laude.
Clovis natives were also named to the honor rolls for the fall semester. The President’s List, for those achieving a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the term, included Blaschke, David Brosseau, son of David and Sandra Nelson, and Chris Igo, son of Tony and Jo Igo.
The Dean’s List, honoring those with grade point averages of 3.5 to 3.99, included Clovis residents Summer Jones, daughter of Richard D. and Colleen Jones, and Audrey Hemminger, daughter of Darral and Cynthia Hemminger.
