Three people were transported to Plains Regional Medical Center on Monday after an accident involving a road construction worker.
Law officers investigating the accident said they did not know the extent of the injuries.
Curry County Undersheriff Wesley Waller said John Romero, a New Mexico Department of Transportation road worker, was standing on the side of State Road 108 north of Clovis shortly after 1 p.m. That’s when a 2002 Mitsubishi driven by Daniel Ordaz, 23, struck Romero’s parked truck, which then hit Romero.
Ordaz was northbound when he saw Romero on the side of the road and swerved into the southbound lane, Waller said. But Ordaz’s vehicle lost traction and spun around toward Romero’s pickup truck.
Ordaz, his passenger and Romero were transported to Plains Regional Medical Center by ambulance.
Ordaz was cited for careless driving, no insurance and an expired vehicle registration, Waller said.
