Clovis man arrested on child pornography charges

A 25-year-old Clovis man was arrested Friday after police discovered child pornography on his home computer.

Virgil Garcia was charged with 16 counts of sexual exploitation of children and is being held on $81,500 bond.

Curry County Sheriff’s deputies, with the assistance of Clovis police, served a search warrant at Garcia’s residence at 809 Laurelwood, Apartment A, on Friday in conjunction with an investigation into exploitation of children over the Internet, a press release said.

According to the release:

• Officers found 13 images and three videos of child pornography on a computer in the residence.

• Garcia and a 19-year-old male smoking marijuana at the time the search warrant was conducted.

Garcia and the 19-year-old were also charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
