At a meeting Tuesday Curry County commissioners:
• Approved a contract for a fund manager to handle some of the county’s investments and renewed an agreement with Eastern Plains Council of Governments.
• Approved cost of living and merit pay increases for county employees that would allow departments to use 1.5 percent of their individual budgets to award raises as they deem appropriate. The total cost to the county will be $122,000.
• Approved a 2.5 percent pay increase for elected officials that will not take effect until 2011, after the next election.
• Approved a notice of intent to approve an ordinance governing proper handling of fire, such as controlled burns, in the county. A public hearing is set for the Aug. 18 meeting.
