Melrose Mayor Lance Pyle said the city water system will temporarily be shut down as a crew works on line problems.

Pyle said around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, there was a call of a water break at the corner of Missouri and Third streets. In the process of repairing the line, Pyle said, another line was damaged.

A city water shutoff, which affects about 360 residents, was scheduled for approximately 10:30 p.m. Pyle said the water should be back on by 1 a.m.
