Wholey Cow Deli closes

The Wholey Cow Deli has closed.

The sandwich shop at Sixth and Pile streets has “For Rent” and “For Sale” signs on the window, and a note on the door indicating it closed Saturday.

The shop opened in 2004 and was a popular downtown lunch location.

The restaurant’s ownership transferred from Barbara George, who had planned to shut the restaurant down, to David and Renea Hughes of Clovis in January, when the pair started leasing the property.

Calls placed to the Hughes residence were not immediately returned.
