Letters to the editor: Fair has made vast improvements

Fair has made vast improvements

I want to thank Lance Pyle, the county commissioners, Jan Riley and Lee Delk and his grounds crew for making the Curry County Fair so handicap friendly.

They have a little ways to go, but what they have done is a 100 percent improvement over the past few years.

I no longer go to the fair and head for the benches at the food court and wait for family to check on me.

People using scooters, wheelchairs, walkers, canes and crutches can now access the fairgrounds from the entrances to the food vendors and even some of the exhibits.

I did see other wheelchairs, walkers, canes and scooters at the fair. For those who couldn’t see a difference, you should have tried it in a wheelchair before they worked on it.

One area was still a little rough, but it is an easy fix.

I was tired after my excursion, but I was given the opportunity to be tired on my own. I will accept tired of wheeling around for three hours over sitting in one place for two hours.

My children had a great time and didn’t have to worry about Dad or see if I were in need of anything.

Good job to everyone involved. I’m looking forward to next year and another pleasurable experience.
