Even after being struck in the leg by a car, a Clovis homeowner continued trying to chase a man suspected of stealing from his home Friday night.

Around 9 p.m. police were called to a residence in the 1000 block of Ross Street for a report of a burglary in progress.

Capt. Patrick Whitney said the victim and his family returned home from a football game to find their front door open and their home ransacked.

The male resident encountered a male suspect in the alley behind his residence talking to another male in a running car, Whitney said.

When the resident began running after them, one suspect fled on foot and the suspect in the car drove towards the victim, striking him in the leg, Whitney said.

After being struck, the homeowner tried to chase the car on foot, but it turned from the alley and went south on Prince Street, Whitney said.

Police records show the victim refused an ambulance.

The vehicle was described as a small turquoise car with a loud exhaust.
