The Clovis Police Department on Monday identified the officer injured in a motorcycle accident as nine-year-veteran Sgt. Robert Denney.

Denney injured his lower right leg as well as his pelvis when he lost control of his vehicle Saturday morning at Echols and Purdue in Clovis. He was practicing for a motorcycle training class in Amarillo.

Thrown from the bike, Denney hit a metal stop sign pole and was subsequently taken to a hospital in Lubbock.

Denney does not have life threatening injuries, police said.

Denney is a first line supervisor for the Clovis Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit.
