Curry County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Florida man in Clovis Wednesday on an outstanding felony sex charge.

Herbert Clinton Miller was a fugitive from Florida, according to a press release from the sheriff.

The Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force contacted the sheriff’s office and advised them Miller could be residing in Clovis, the release said.

Miller was wanted in Florida for lewd or lascivious battery, a second degree felony.

Under Florida law, lewd or lascivious battery is defined as engaging in sexual activity with a person 12 years of age or older but less than 16 years.

Miller was arrested at a residence in the 1100 block of Hinkle and is being held at the Curry County Detention Center pending extradition back to Florida.
