Police raise funds with doughnuts

CNJ staff report

The Clovis Police Department will be trading doughnuts for dollars Friday as part of its annual Shop with a Cop fundraising drive.

Starting at 6:45 a.m., officers will be at Daylight Doughnuts on North Prince Street collecting donations to fund the Shop with a Cop program.

Officers will be giving away doughnuts in exchange for donations during the peak of morning traffic as people head to work, Capt. Patrick Whitney said.

The Shop with a Cop program is a donation-driven effort by police. Area children in need are taken on a shopping spree to purchase Christmas gifts.
