PORTALES — Eastern New Mexico University senior libero Caitlin Murphy has been invited to try out for the United States national volleyball team. The tryouts will be conducted by U.S. head coach Hugh McCutcheon in Colorado Springs, Colo., at the United States Olympic Training Center.
Murphy, from Amarillo, will be seeking a position for both the U.S. Women’s National and the U.S. Women’s Senior A2 teams.
The tryouts are scheduled for Feb. 19-21. Murphy is one of 162 athletes slated to attend.
Murphy concluded her career at ENMU in November having set the ENMU career record for digs at 1,930. She is third in career service aces with 125.
As a junior she became the third player in Zias history to top the 600-dig mark, posting a single-season record 661 digs, including a career-best 38-dig performance at Lubbock Christian.
