Two Portales residents are facing felony drug charges.

Tuesday, Daisy Ornelas, 23, was arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine, a second-degree felony, after officers from the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office, Portales Police Department and Curry County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant in the 1400 block of South Avenue E, according to a news release from the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office.

Ornelas later confessed to buying crack cocaine and delivering it to various places within the county, according to police.

Children at the residence were placed in the custody of the state Children, Youth and Families Department.

Ornelas is being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond at the Roosevelt County Detention Center.

On Jan. 27, police arrested Guadalupe Larez, 26, for distribution of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine, both fourth-degree felonies, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, after the same three law enforcement agencies executed a search warrant in the 800 block of North Avenue M.

Larez posted a $15,000 cash surety bond, after the bond was reduced from $50,000 cash only, and was released.
